term 4 goals

I hope to make term 4 as best as it can.My first goal is to improve my writing further by leaving spaces after punctuation and making sure that any paragraphs only contain one idea.For maths my goal is to stay focused and try to figure out what to do by myself or with a bit of help from the teacher.My reading goal is to read a different genre of books and to try and forget about The Harry Potter series.I also want to complete the vocab sheets correctly without working with others to figure them out.My goal for myself is to practice my guitar and saxophone more and to get very close to my silver badge by showing our school values.If I do all this Term 4 should turn out a great end to my first year at Te Awamutu Intermediate.

week 7 term 3

This week we had science tech and our second lesson ever involved burning empty teabags and experimenting using P.O.E.W. We learnt that flames need 3 sources of fuel-Oxygen,heat and fuel. Our Friday lesson involved marbles and making marble tracks from cardboard.Our first lesson last week cosisted of electric circuits and how they work.We used these little UFO balls that had two pads that you needed to touch with both fingers  to make it light up.We tested some objects around the science room to see if we could make electric circuits through them.On Thursday at band Mr Stanbridge (the music teacher) made me perform my competition piece to the band.At extension art my collage peacock from different textured paper is turning out well.I haven't had guitar in along time so after that my fingers really hurt.And in robotics I still haven't finished the orchard challenge but i'm getting better at programming sphero's.My film review about WALL-E wasn't very hard but I missed some of the key features that I needed to use to make my review perfect.I had the spelling bee this weekend and my word was A-D-V-A-N-T-A-G-E-O-U-S.I got it right but I didn't make the finals.

week 4 term 3

In tech I am designing a bag for everyday use.I finished my pillowcase and I took it home.In maths I learnt how to find the volume of some 3D shapes and I am improving in cross country.Now I only walk up the hills.In extension art my peacock is nearly finished.In robotics I nearly finished programming my virtual robot around the orchard challenge.I am doing my speech on Monday next week and I'm really nervous because I don't like giving speeches.Next week I am going to Murray's Bay for band and I'm really looking forward to it.

week 3 term 3

This week I've learnt how to make a pillowcase and i'm learning to make a mouse too.Tech arts is my favourite part of the week (apart from Thursday) because I learn something other than maths or literacy.My speech isn't the best topic because it was difficult to think of an interesting topic and make it persuasive.We are learning about the circumference of circles but I still don't fully understand.We finished chocolate selling on Friday and I made an effort to sell three boxes.Our trip to Murray's bay in Auckland is coming up and I need to write a report for the magazine about it.I might even start writing about it while we are there.We had a first aid course provided by St John's on Wednesday.We learnt CPR and mouth to mouth with mannequins ,how to bandage each other,what to do during an accident and lots of other life-saving tips.In extension art I found a new technique to make the criss-cross lines on my peacock canvas and in robotics I started the vex-IQ pack for programming.

term 2 week 8

Last week on Tuesday it was mufti day and someone came and organised a concert for us.he danced and it was really fun.It was a gold coin donation to get in because he was fundraising for a trip to america.I also learnt how to bend,melt and play with stained glass(plastic)in hard materials.I made a key ring and im trying to learn how to make a box then afterwards i'll turn it into a moneybox. On Wednesday at Jump Jam I learnt another dance.On Thursday at band we learnt how to play three new songs(Rolling in the deep,Skyfall and A London Intrada and we re slowly getting through Georgia On My Mind.During my guitar lessons i'm learning to pick Jingle bells and play Wild Thing by The Trogg's. While I was painting in extension art Mrs Dixon (the art teacher)taught me how to make straight lines and how to use the tip of my brush so I know what's happening on my canvas.And in robotics I learnt how to use Expedition Atlantis and how to make an algorithm on its calculator.On Friday we learnt off by heart some Maori words and I think we are pretty good at them.

week 3 term 2

this week was great!I had music camp on Wednesday and Thursday and I learnt how to play Aura Lee,Ode to joy,hard rock blues,band room boogie,rock em sock em, and many more.On Monday we learnt how to bump,serve and volley a volleyball. On Tuesday we had our first hard materials class and we learnt about circuits,LED lights, and machines that we can use to design our masterpieces.On Friday we learnt about semicolons and for friday sport I played fun netball and poison-it was a good week!

term 2 week 1

The first week back was great!I learnt about  rules,algebra,graphs and patterns in maths and I've never fully understood it but now I understand and don't struggle too much!We have a lot of writing to do this term and I hope I can finish it quick enough to have time for everything else.We also have to read and do a book review on a book that has something to do with the holocaust.I chose the book thief and i'm really enjoying it!We also changed our Friday sport And now im playing fun netball,I learnt a lot during the first week back!

term 1 reflection

This term has been absolutely fantastic.The first week I couldn't stop second guessing myself about being in room three but I fit in just fine!I learnt the same amount that I would learn in a term of primary school that I did in a week of intermediate.The year is speeding by and summers over😞.I am glad that I have participated in many things though,such as basketball,french,music [guitar and tenor saxophone],extension art,robotics and many more.Easter Friday is coming up which means no school on Friday but im sure we will learn just as much this week as any other.I believe over the term my maths has improved increasingly fast. I've learnt about integers,place value,indices/index numbers/powers,multiplication,division and subtraction algorithms,prime numbers and much much  more.I have also learnt about where capital letters and punctuation belong in my writing because it is very tricky to remember but at lest I was't the only one who needed to work on it.And in reading I've tried and succeeded in finding a different genre of book that I enjoy.

At school we do  house competitions.This term my house Waipa has competed in three inter house events with the other houses Mangapiko,Waikato and Puniu. First we competed in minor games coming second to Waikato then we participated in swimming and came first but overall still in second place then just last week we had summer games and now Waipa is in third place behind Mangapiko [2nd]and Waikato[1st]😢.

Overall my term has been great And I hope to have an even better one in my following time at Te Awamutu Intermediate School.

camp week 8!😆

During week 8 my class[room 3] traveled to Wellington for a fabulous class camp!The bus trip was eight hours but it felt way longer.My favourite part would have to be Weta Workshop,we learnt how they make movies and how hard it is to be an actor.First we were shown some casts that had to be taken of an actor just in case something happened to them-they looked so real! What I found fascinating was that if they had a full body cast of any actor it was as if they were immortal because if the real actor died you would still have the cast and make movies with him for as long as the cast stays.After we learnt about the casts we just looked at some of the cool things around the place and there were a lot!

I also really liked Capital E. My group went to the Media lab first and designed android apps with Sam while the other group made a video to once upon a crime at the ONTV place then we switched and they did virtual reality instead of the app making and we did ONTV.

Some of the other things we visited include Zealandia [animal sanctuary],Wellington museum[Wahine disaster],snorkeling at Island Bay,Tour of Parliament,carter observatory[Space Place],the Wellington zoo and many other fun things.

This was one of my favourite camp's ever and it was a great opportunity to learn new things!

my 4th learning reflection

We have finally finished all our testing! We had a spelling and a basic facts test this week and we are finished now.I learned to play hot cross buns(a song) on a saxophone that we borrowed from the college because I still dont have mine from KBB music.I learnt how to play A D and E chord on my guitar and im learning how to tune it properly.We had robotics as well. I learnt how binary code works and how to program things to do what you want them to.For extension art we are doing sketches of plants and animals native to New Zealand,I learnt how to shade a bit better so I can have the colors I want.During swimming sports on Friday I think I got a tiny bit better at swimming because I came first in the flutter-board race,second place in the breath stroke race and third in the freestyle race these are the non champ events.It was definitely a busy week and I was very tired over the weekend bye for now!

My third learning reflection

Hey guys i'm back! This week I learnt a lot of things due to the fact that we were doing like 2 tests every day! We did asttle reading,asttle writing,maths,basic facts and probably more.I learnt about index numbers during maths,they are the little numbers above a normal number.To use them you would multiply your number such as 10 by itself however many times the little number is.So if the little number was 5 and your normal number was 10 you would do 10x10x10x10x10x10.

We also learned about rounding numbers to the nearest 10,100,1000,10000,100000 and so on.We learned about decimal places (D. Ps), and where to place them.To do so we needed to be confident with place value. I am a lot more confident now than I was before I learned about decimal points properly. Soon I am going to start learning to play the tenor saxophone so i will be able to tell you about that as well. Thats all for today thank you for reading!🍩😏

2nd learning reflection

Last week I learned a few things but not a lot because I was sick last week.Anyway I learned about square roots,prime and composite numbers and I learnt how to play E chord on my guitar.We had to come up with a sentence for guitar homework for E A D G B E, mine is Every Alpaca Deserves Gooey Boiled Eggs.I learnt why we need a shot at intermediate-to prevent three major diseases,tetanus,hooping cough and diphtheria these are very bad diseases that we all need good protection from. When you are four years old you get a shot to help prevent these diseases and we need a top up when you are around eleven years old.I also learnt some sweet moves during jump jam on friday.Thats all for today thanks for reading!😀😊

first learning reflection

Hi guys i'm back! over the last two weeks i have learned lots of things including growth mindset. I learned that a lot more effort is needed if you want to be apart of opportunities at intermediate. There are way more meetings and notices that are needed for extra curricullum activities.I participated in the bigfoot cycling event for two days. I learnt about road safety and legal requirements for a bike.I've learned lots of different things this week and i cant wait to learn more! Bye for now

😀🍩Hi my name is Alice I have two pets 1 cat named Liquorice and a rabbit named Fluffy. I am passionate about school, animals, reading and the trampoline. Over the holidays I learnt a backflip and an aerial! My nana found three kittens living in the drain and we might get to keep one. Over the summer I have been playing tennis with my friends Ashlee and Stella, we play at my nanas on her tennis court and after we go for a swim. I hope I can make more vlogs soon bye!
